๐ŸŽƒ The Origin of Halloween ๐ŸŽƒ (B1)

Halloween is a popular celebration. But do you know where it comes from?

Ancient Times ๐ŸŒ™

A long time ago, there was a festival called 'Samhain' (pronounced 'sow-in'). The Celts, people from the British Isles, celebrated it.

Why Samhain? ๐Ÿ‚

It was the end of summer and start of winter. The Celts believed that on this night, the dead visited the living.

Costumes and Masks ๐ŸŽญ

People wore costumes and masks. They wanted to look like spirits. This way, the real spirits would not bother them.

Christian Influence โ›ช

Later, Christians celebrated 'All Saints' Day' on November 1st. The night before became 'All Hallows' Eve'. Now, we call it 'Halloween'.

๐ŸŽ‰ Modern Halloween ๐Ÿฌ

Today, we dress up, go trick-or-treating, and have fun with friends. It's a mix of old and new traditions!

Thanks for joining us on this journey through Halloween's history. Keep learning with Bristol Lane Academy in Valladolid! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ
